Annual skin care/pressure ulcer prevention class is a two-hour mandatory class for clinical care partner (CCP). The class is designed to educate CCPs regarding current skin care, pressure ulcer prevention, and fall prevention guidelines and standards. The ultimate goal is to improve patient care. It is a dynamic class that includes big and small group discussions,and learning exercises.
Objectives:
Skin Care / Pressure Ulcer Prevention:
- Describe the role of clinical care partner (CCP) in promoting patient safety through pressure ulcer prevention/treatment
- Discuss the importance of pressure ulcer prevention in acute care setting
- Incorporate evidence-based pressure ulcer prevention/treatment modalities in patient care
- Demonstrate basic ostomy care
Fall Prevention:
- The CPP will identify a patient fall risk in clinical practice
- The CPP will compare and contrast effective fall prevention vs ineffective measures
- The CPP will design a comprehensive patient fall prevention strategy during group discussion
